Crowded teeth occur when there isn’t enough space in the jaw for teeth to align properly. This can cause teeth to overlap, twist, or shift out of place, creating both functional and aesthetic concerns.
Common causes include:
Our orthodontists use detailed 3D imaging and bite analysis to determine the root cause of crowding before recommending the best treatment option for your smile.
While crowding can seem like a minor cosmetic issue, untreated misalignment can lead to:
By correcting crowded teeth early, you protect both your oral health and long-term comfort.
At DiFranco Orthodontics, we create personalized treatment plans tailored to your age, alignment complexity, and individual preferences. Our advanced orthodontic solutions include:
InvisalignⓇ aligners gently move crowded teeth into proper alignment using a series of clear, removable trays. Ideal for teens and adults, this treatment offers comfort, flexibility, and near invisibility — perfect for those who prefer a discreet solution.
Our clear ceramic braces blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, offering the reliability of traditional braces without the metallic appearance. They’re an excellent choice for adults and older teens seeking a balance between aesthetics and precision.
Traditional braces remain one of the most effective treatments for moderate to severe crowding. Today’s modern brackets are smaller, more comfortable, and more efficient, allowing for precise, controlled tooth movement.
For children, early intervention can help guide jaw growth and create enough room for adult teeth to erupt properly, often preventing severe crowding later in life.
For patients seeking faster results, we offer safe and effective techniques that help reduce treatment time while maintaining accuracy and comfort.
Correcting crowding offers benefits that go beyond aesthetics:
Our orthodontists focus on long-term stability and patient comfort, ensuring your new smile looks and feels its best for years to come.

Honest and ethical office with a conservative (aka logical and correct) approach. I’d like to share my sons story for those parents reading that may be facing the same initial dilemma-age 7 crowding, thus very crooked teeth with seemingly no room for adult teeth. Our pediatric dentist referred us to an orthodontist. He strongly recommended we consult with three and take into consideration each care plan. The first two orthodontists we consulted with did have a lovely staff, respected reputation and busy practice. However, each recommended a similar approach: perhaps two sets of braces or spacers or instead (which was how both were leaning) pulling baby teeth and most likely ADULT teeth and one set of braces. With a background in nursing and just as a mom, I was astounded this is a common practice. We left Dr. DiFranco’s consultation with this plan-wait. Wait and reassess every 6-12months because at this age the facial bones are rapidly growing, adjusting, and will more than likely accommodate the teeth that are to come. In fact! this crowding that was potentially going to lead to traumatic surgery, in ages 7-12 is a perfectly normal and expected stage of dental development comically coined ‘the ugly duckling stage’ on account of the amazing transformation taking place. Dr. DiFranco did mention pulling teeth for some patients is a reality, but a rarity in his office-absolute last resort. It’s been nearly two years and my son’s baby teeth have fallen out naturally, adult teeth coming in as expected and I can not stress enough- drastically repositioned themselves with now minimal crookedness. Little more insight for those considering pulling adult teeth as an intervention for crowding- aside from all the risks & complications associated with any surgery, pulling adult teeth too early could lead to a flattened appearance of smile, consequently perhaps a thinner appearing lip as people age, and possibly even gaps between teeth. This bc the adult mouth was in fact prepared for a full set of teeth, but bc teeth were prematurely removed, the remaining ones have extra space to spread out.
Jenny was wonderful during my son’s first braces appointment. She was patient, kind, and explained everything clearly. We had a great experience and truly appreciate her care and professionalism.
Amazing staff and dr. Always on time with schedule and no wait. Free professional dentistry.
